XperiumOS is a carrier-grade software package that can be run on Avvasi’s Xperium Platform or on COTS servers. XperiumOS is capable of delivering multiple functions and solutions, passively, as Q-VUE, and actively, as Q-SRV, to meet the wide ranging needs of service providers from traffic measurement and analytics, to traffic management to service delivery. With Avvasi’s XperiumOS, service providers can measure and manage the exponential growth of video traffic, without compromising subscriber QoE.
XperiumOS inspects all network traffic in real time, and reassembles every media session on the network, in its entirety, from constituent flows and supports all major media services. XperiumOS implements a hierarchical traffic processing framework, with a fast path for flow handling and low latency bridging of non-media traffic and a separate application path for media inspection and media management.
With a unique, industry-leading media-aware policy engine, XperiumOS functions as a media-centric Policy Decision Point (M-PDP), permitting real-time per-media-session policy control based on many of the measured analytics (e.g. subscriber, location, device type/model, service, video attributes, protocols, QoE, etc.). The media-aware policy engine performs continuous evaluation, in real time, on every media session on the network.
With a complete media traffic management toolset, XperiumOS also functions as a media-centric Policy Enforcement Point (M-PEP), capable of media-aware traffic policing and shaping, adaptive streaming control and real-time transcoding. XperiumOS transcoding leverages best-in-class, highest density and quality broadcast transcoder technology, and can handle the highest complexity codecs, in real time, at scale.
XperiumOS employs industry-standard failover and configuration synchronization mechanisms to provide high availability and system redundancy. It permits system management via familiar network-centric CLI, and provides complete logging and diagnostics information.
Avvasi’s virtualized XperiumOS supports both the Q-VUE and Q-SRV products. Virtualized XperiumOS provides all the benefits of a best-of-breed video analytics, video policy control, video traffic management and monetization solution, in a fully virtualized form factor, available both as an integrated VNF or as modular media inspection, measurement, management, policy and service delivery VNFs.
This enables service providers and partners to deploy video analytics and traffic management components on COTS hardware alongside other virtualized functions thereby enabling an infrastructure of multiple best-of-breed vendors. The benefits to service providers are service agility and reduced capex, with increased network intelligence to maintain a high quality of experience and reduce churn.
Virtualized XperiumOS is optimized for Intel Open Network Platform server reference designs and the latest Intel DPDK and Open vSwitch software for the highest performance data plane processing.
